It has been our effort and endeavour to try and help the underprivileged people of the society in whatever small way we can. We appreciate that our efforts may not end up removing poverty, but it will at least help a few such individuals realise their dreams.
Despite the fast economic strides made by India, there are countless Indians who can only possibly dream, but never get an opportunity to fulfill their dream. This has nothing to do with their competence or sincerity; it is that they are born into a lower income families, many a times in underdeveloped rural areas. Most drop out of school at some stage and do not pursue further education. Many end up doing menial jobs which pay them a salary, not enough even to lead a subsistence life, and where their services can be terminated at short notices. Compounded with this is the lack of social security in India, which drives a person to penury during periods of no employment.
It is ironical that in the one of the fastest growing economies in the world, where the IT industry is grappling with severe manpower shortage, people like these can only admire the IT offices but not work in them.
We try to train up such individuals, in areas that we are familiar with in the IT sector, so that they can be gainfully employed. Our experience shows that, with a little patience, individuals like these can be trained and made productive for the IT sector.
Improving IT knowledge of underpriveleged children
There are many NGOs which deal with children, offering them basic education, meals, day care centres etc.
sapnagroup understands that although these kids do get primary education, being computer literate is very important in this fast moving world. Computer knowledge would not only help them in their future endeavors but, more importantly, also help them gain confidence in themselves. Our attempt has been to connect with such NGOs and try to run computer classes for these children to enhance their computer knowledge.
A typical computer class comprises- basics of computers and what they are used for
- basic hardware knowledge (what's a keyboard, speaker, mother board etc)
- how to use Notepad and Microsoft Word
- how to use Paint
- usage of email
- using the web to search for the information needed
- basic HTML coding
- basics of messenger services.
To ensure the kids don't loose interest, at times, we allow a gaming session at the end of a class.
We also try to donate old PCs to such institutions so that the children can use it during their spare time.
