Hamara Project (a Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust venture) aims at the education and empowerment of women and children especially in the rural areas.

sapnagroup understands that although these kids do get primary education, being computer literate is very important in this fast moving world and would not only help them in their future endeavors but more important help them gain confidence in themselves.

After an initial discussion with the management, who were very cooperative, we started a trial project. Every Saturday, for 2 hours, we conduct computer classes at our office for 10-12 kids and one of their staff member. We teach them theory and also have practical lessons on topics which included

• basics of computers and what they are used for
• basic hardware knowledge (what's a keyboard, speaker, mother board etc)
• how to use Notepad and Microsoft Word
• how to use Paint
• usage of email
• using the web to search for the information needed
• basic HTML coding
• basics of messenger services.
  

To ensure the kids don't loose interest at times we allowed gaming session at the end of a class.

We also donated a PC to their childcare centre so that they could use it during their spare times.
